Lane Sander, MA, MDiv, ​LMHC

Lane is the director and founder of Renovate Counseling Services (founded in 2016) and is a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Indiana. He completed his graduate training through Grace College and Theological Seminary and holds a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Lane has multiple years of experience working with clients in a variety of settings ranging from private practice to college counseling centers.

​Lane approaches therapy from a person-centered lens and firmly believes that a strong emphasis on the therapist-client relationship is the start of the process towards healing and wholeness. He also incorporates Narrative and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy into his approach to counseling as well. Lane enjoys being able to walk with his clients on their journey towards achieving their goals related to their mental health and overall wellbeing.

Bre Barger, MSW

SOCIAL WORKER​

Bre finds joy in walking alongside clients, hearing their stories, and working towards seeing her clients lead flourishing lives. She desires to create an authentic and safe space for clients to explore and grow.

Bre holds a Master's in Social Work from Appalachian State University and obtained her undergraduate education from Indiana Wesleyan University. Bre has had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, providing experience with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, stressful relationships, anger, transitions, trauma, poverty, etc. Because of her social work background, she understands the interplay between systems and how they impact people on various levels. She approaches therapy through a person-centered approach and operates from multiple frameworks, including Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and faith integration as desired.

Bre grew up in the area and has recently returned. She enjoys being active, drinking tea, cooking, traveling, and having new experiences.

JAMI BEER, MSW

SOCIAL WORKER

Jami holds a Master of Social Work from Indiana University and has over five years of experience working with depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, trauma, and other mental health conditions. Much of her work has been with clients in the early stages of mental health recovery as a group therapy facilitator in outpatient settings. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy and takes a strengths-based, person-centered approach with an emphasis on listening and adapting modalities to the individual needs of each person. Clients say she has a gift for helping them feel understood. Her passion for social justice and work experience makes her especially adept at helping individuals with multiple systemic challenges in their background.

Jami grew up in Wells County and has recently returned after living in Indianapolis for several years. She is looking forward to enjoying a small-town community again and working in a more personal, relational setting. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her nieces, trying her hand at art, reading, and thought-provoking chats with friends and family.

Elizabeth Bothast, MA, LMHCA

LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR ASSOCIATE

Elizabeth holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Saint Francis and her Master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Huntington University. Elizabeth is working towards her LMHC with a specialization in play therapy for children. Elizabeth has a passion for working with children and teens and their families on an array of areas such as adjustment from trauma, anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy techniques into every session. Elizabeth has experience in working in community mental health, private practice, and school-based settings working on an array of social, behavioral, and life development skills. 

When not counseling others, Elizabeth enjoys hiking and fishing with her husband, and reading psychological thrillers. Elizabeth has a passion for volunteering in kids ministry at her local church to foster the spiritual growth of the next generation.

Taylor Cason, MSW, LSW

LICENSED SOCIAL WORKER

Taylor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, a Child Advocacy Studies Certificate, and her master's degree in Social Work through Indiana Wesleyan University.

Taylor is committed to supporting individuals of all ages, children, teens, and adults. Taylor incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques and centers her approach around developing coping skills, strengths-based perspective, and empowerment.

Outside of practice she enjoys her time reading, spending time with friends and family, and spending time outside.

Jenna Fisher, MA, LMHCA

Jenna has a bachelor's degree in Business Management and her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Huntington University. Jenna hopes to assist individuals in finding themselves, understanding personal strengths and reaching goals while harnessing coping skills. Jenna is drawn to work with children, adolescents, couples, individuals and families. She has a passion for incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Psychoanalytic Therapy , and Strength-Based Therapy techniques while implementing Spiritual Integration when invited.

She enjoys any time outdoors with her family in her free time, including spending time in the field during harvest with her husband. Aside from all things outdoors, Jenna cherishes helping her clients to see to the best part of themselves while walking alongside them in their journey.

Tim Hirschy, MSW, LCSW, LCAC, MAC, LISW

LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER

Tim completed his Bachelor’s in Counseling at Grace College in 1990. He completed his graduate program from Indiana University in 1996. Tim is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor in the state of Indiana. Tim is also a Licensed Independent Social Worker and able to see individuals virtually in the state of Ohio. He also holds a Master Addictions Counselor certification from the National Association of Addiction Professionals. He has experience working with families, women, men, adolescents and children. Tim has worked with individuals and families with a variety of issues including grief/loss, sadness/depression, anxiety/stress, trauma, anger issues, addictions, ADHD and individuals and families in transition. Tim’s primary hope is to help individuals and families to find wholeness, freedom and encouragement as they move through their life journey.

Tim uses a variety of techniques including utilizing education, cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy, strength-based, the emotional freedom technique as well as integrating  art therapy. Tim has completed training to practice Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A. R. T.) which is helpful for a variety of trauma and mental health issues.

Tim also believes that exploring faith beliefs and integrating these into our lives is an important part of the therapy process.

Sarah Johnson, MA

COUNSELOR

Sarah is a master's level therapist who is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University and holds a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She has previous experience counseling in rural school systems, women’s recovery centers, and community mental health centers. Sarah also has experience counseling children, teens, adults, and families with issues related to anxiety, depression, suicide, grief and loss, transitions, relationships, anger, and addiction. Sarah has a heart to serve and loves to help others.

Sarah approaches therapy from a Cognitive Behavioral approach with a strong focus on the client-therapist relationship from the start of her sessions. She incorporates tools that help modify the connection between thoughts and behaviors. Sarah uses Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral approaches for children who have been exposed to trauma. Sarah also approaches therapy from a Dialectical Behavioral approach to identify and change negative thinking patterns and push for positive behavioral changes. Sarah appreciates the privilege of meeting her clients where they are in their journey towards change.​

Catie Keller, MSW

SOCIAL WORKER

Catie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Bowling Green State University and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Ohio University.

Catie provides individual therapy for children, teens, and adults, as well as family and couples therapy. She has over five years of experience helping clients navigate a wide range of challenges, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, OCD, trauma, and grief. Catie integrates evidence-based approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).

Her therapeutic approach is grounded in a strengths-based perspective that emphasizes developing coping skills, processing emotions, and empowering clients to create meaningful and lasting change.

Outside of her professional work, Catie enjoys reading, walking, and spending time with her husband and family.

Rachael King, Ms, LMHCA

LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR ASSOCIATE

Rachael has extensive experience counseling children, teens, adults, seniors, couples, and groups. For the last decade, she has worked in school, community mental health, and hospital settings helping clients address depression, anxiety, grief, substance abuse, anger, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. Rachael incorporates a variety of therapeutic modalities including Adlerian, person-centered, and rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) which are focused on treating the whole person while exploring barriers that interfere with life goals and interpersonal congruence.

Rachael holds a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University in Family and Consumer Science with a Family Studies concentration, as well as a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Purdue-Fort Wayne.

Andy Rodgers, MSW

SOCIAL WORKER

Andy has a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and his master's degree in Social Work at Indiana Wesleyan University. He is currently working towards his LCSW in Indiana. Andy enjoys assisting individuals in finding who they are as a person, understanding personal strengths and goals while developing coping skills along the way. Andy is drawn to work with children, adolescents, and families. He has a passion for incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, motivational interviewing, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy while implementing Spiritual growth as needed.

He enjoys any time outdoors with his family in his free time, including hunting, fishing, and attending his children’s sporting events. Andy lives with his wife and their 2 children (15 and 13) and attends church locally.  Andy has a passion for combatting human trafficking and working through trauma that has been endured through hardships.  He has experience working with children, adults, groups, and those in the legal system.  He hopes for individuals to make the best out of their lives, and for them to know that they were made for greatness.

Brier Stucky, MA, LMHC

Brier completed his Bachelor of Science degree in History from Ball State University and completed his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Huntington University in 2022. He has experience working with children, teens, and adults struggling with issues related to depression, anxiety, substance use, ADHD, and other behavioral issues. Brier incorporates Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy into his practice and strives to work with his clients collaboratively to help them set and achieve their goals in therapy. Brier also has experience working with couples and utilizes Gottman Method Couples Therapy techniques to help couples improve their communication and rebuild their connection.

Brier has lived in the Bluffton area for his entire life and is passionate about reducing stigma around mental health conditions in the community. In his free time, Brier enjoys spending time with his family, reading, traveling, and cooking.

Nikki Surbaugh, MA, LMHC

LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR

Nikki completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Family Relations and Child Development from Ball State University. She graduated from Huntington University with a Master of Arts in Counseling in July 2016. Nikki is licensed in the state of Indiana as a Mental Health Counselor.

Nikki has experience working with adults, families, children, and adolescents in a variety of settings including private practice, public school, and a non-profit transitional home for women. She’s received training in treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, family, parenting, and marital issues, as well as trauma and addictions. Nikki enjoys providing therapy from a variety of treatment modalities including cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, family systems, client-centered, and faith integration at the client’s desire.

It is Nikki’s goal as a therapist to come alongside each client, providing support, care, and a safe place to process and work towards personal well-being.

Danielle Zackey, MS, LMHCA

LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR ASSOCIATE

Danielle has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Purdue Fort Wayne and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from New England College.

Danielle has had experience working with addictions at a non-profit transitional home for women. She has experience working with youth and adolescents through ministries and volunteer work. Danielle likes to incorporate Strength-Based, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered in her approach to therapy. She believes that collaboration and the therapeutic relationship help her clients identify goals and potential solutions related to their mental health and well-being.

Lora Masterson, BS

INTERN

Lora is a graduate student in the Master of Social Work program at Indiana Wesleyan University, where she is building a strong foundation in ethical practice, client engagement, and culturally responsive care. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana University and an Associate’s degree in Business from Indiana Wesleyan University. Lora will begin her Advanced Practicum in January 2026 and is expected to graduate in August 2026, after which she plans to pursue her LCSW.

With many years of experience supporting children and families, Lora brings a steady, strengths-based approach to her work. She is committed to creating respectful, supportive environments where individuals feel heard and valued, and she continues to expand her skills as she prepares for future clinical practice. Her professional values are rooted in dignity, justice, and a belief in the resilience of every person.

Outside of her academic and professional commitments, Lora enjoys spending time with her husband, exploring the outdoors, riding four-wheelers, and caring for her animals.

Emma Miller, BS

INTERN

Emma graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Grace College and Seminary in 2023 and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling there, with plans to graduate in May 2026. Emma plans to obtain her LMHC after graduation.

Emma has a passion for working with individuals of all ages, children, teens, and adults. Emma works with clients facing anxiety, depression, and trauma, using a client-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach grounded in empathy and understanding. She also enjoys integrating faith into counseling for clients who wish to include it. Emma’s goal is to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered.

Outside of the office, Emma enjoys being outdoors, spending time with friends and family, playing pickleball with her fiancé, and being involved in her church.

She has studied at Indiana Wesleyan University, and is currently pursuing a degree in psychology with a minor in pastoral care and counseling. She loves getting to know people and hear their stories. Emma loves to spend time with her family and friends, be outside, especially around a bonfire, and enjoys reading books and watching football.

Kim BERTSCH

CARE COORDINATOR

Kim, a lifelong native of Bluffton, completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education/Office Administration from Ball State University.

She has had a myriad of opportunities to serve in various educational and business settings, including teaching accounting and business law at Blackford High School, working as a teacher’s aide at Bluffton Middle School, and volunteering at A Friend’s House Ministries and Christian Care Retirement Community.

​Kim and her husband have 8 children. Besides spending time with family and friends, she enjoys working outdoors, hiking, and sports.

Abby Fulton

CARE COORDINATOR

Abby is originally from Roanoke, IN and moved to the Bluffton area in 2012. Abby graduated from Homestead high school in 2003 and has an AAS in physical therapy assisting. Abby previously worked in long term care with geriatric population doing direct patient care and some administrative duties. She loves hearing life stories from people who have lived and experienced a lot more of life than she has.

Abby and her husband have been married for 10 years and have 4 daughters. Their family is active in volunteering at their church.In her free time, Abby enjoys crafting with her girls, walking/biking/running, reading, and just spending time with friends and family.

Kate Moser lives in Adams County and graduated from Adams Central High School. Kate has studied at Anderson University and Indiana University Fort Wayne and she is currently pursuing a degree in social work. She enjoys seeing people learn and be able to grow into the best version of themself. 

She enjoys hanging out with friends, swimming, showing swine, and being creative.

Phoebe Schwartz is a native of Bluffton, Indiana. She has an Associates degree in Biblical studies from Ethnos360 Bible Institute in Waukesha, WI. People are her passion. She has worked and served in multiple capacities over the years, as a waitress, a before-school instructor at an elementary school, and serving at her local church.

She loves spending time with family and friends, drinking coffee, and reading books.

Isabella has lived her whole life in Wells County and graduated from Norwell High School. After high school, she briefly joined the missions organization Youth With A Mission to receive ministry training before coming back to Bluffton to work in music and children’s ministry. She has over five years of experience leading worship and ministering to children and families.

Isabella finds joy in caring for and encouraging those she encounters. She likes to spend her free time hanging out with friends, writing songs, and reading.
